Priscilla Symes

February 6, 1928 - September 22, 2017

Priscilla “Pat” Symes, age 89. Born on February 6, 1928 and passed away on September 22, 2017. Long time resident of Farmington Hills. Cherished wife of the late Robert Symes. Pat is survived by her nephew Don and her beloved dogs Linus and Lucy. She will be missed by Bill and Mary Frost, their sons Brad and Mike, Cathy Beal, her sons Joe and Daniel, and all the other children whose lives she touched.

Priscilla holds the distinction of being the longest-serving educator in the Farmington Public Schools. She started in 1949- fresh out of the University of Detroit as a third-grade teacher at 10 Mile School. Pat went on to work at Bond School for five years before settling in at Eagle in 1955. During that time, she watched as the district experienced the same rate of growth as the kids themselves.

More than 44 years on the job gives her a sense of history. Pat is one of the few who can match the face with the schools they’re named after such as former superintendents O.E. Dunckel and Gerald Harrison. Such a lengthy career gives her a perspective on how education has changed.

Pat will be missed by many.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 27th from 3pm until Funeral Service at 5pm at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills. She will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
