Catharine S. Lichty, age 85, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018. Loving mother of James Haas, John (Nancy Brown) Haas, Mary (John) Bristow, and Robert (Kimberley) Lichty, Grandmother of 8, great grandmother of 4 and 1 great great granddaughter.  Also surviving are two sisters; Peggy Militello and Therese (Harry) Hall.  She was preceded in death by three siblings; Michael Haughey, Regis Haughey, and Terry Haughey.

Catharine had a love of the arts. She was a voracious reader, her favorites being English Mysteries and Irish Poems. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, especially the New York Times Sunday Crossword. She regularly attended theater productions, spent many hours in the Detroit Institute of Arts and frequented performances of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Wayne State University, Catharine’s Alma Mater, was near and dear to her and she spent many years volunteering for the Women of Wayne organization as well as being a docent on the campus leading tours through the artworks at the university. She was also a devout member of the Roman Catholic church, regularly attending services at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in West Bloomfield, Michigan.  

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM with an evening Scripture Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. Twelve Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.  Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, In State 10:30am with her Mass to follow at 11:00am at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. Twelve Mile Rd. Farmington Hills. Memorial Contributions may be made to Wayne State University.
