Mrs. Betty Lou Rood passed away Monday, June 25, 2018 at her home in Canton following a courageous battle with acute Leukemia.  She was born June 11, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan a daughter of Donald Otto and Shirley Marie (nee Kreger) Tessin.  On October 30, 1982 she was married to Robert T. Rood at Zion Lutheran Church in Hemlock, Michigan. 

Mrs. Rood had a passion for caring for others leading to a career as an E.R. nurse with Beaumont/Oakwood Hospitals for many years.  She was an avid Harley rider.  She enjoyed traveling with Robert, going on cruises and traveling in their motorhome with their Harleys.  She loved camping with the family and going to the lake house in Pinckney.  She enjoyed gardening of all types.  She loved going to garage sales with her mom and sisters.  She was known in the family as a “Jill of all trades”.  She enjoyed pushing the envelope by scuba diving and buddy skydiving.  Above all else she cherished her time with family and friends. 

Mrs. Rood is survived by her loving husband of 35 years; Robert T. Rood.  Dear mother of Brandon (Amie) Rood and Stephanie (Ryan) Cauley.  Fond grandmother of Ayden Rood.  Dear daughter of Shirley Tessin.  Sister of Karen Gardner and Donna Barczyk.  Mrs. Rood is preceded in death by her father; Donald Tessin, sister; Cathy Birney and her niece; Tracy Gardner.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 2 – 8 P.M. at the McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton.  Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Rd., Hemlock, MI.  Final visitation will begin Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at the church.  Burial will follow at Richland Lutheran Cemetery, Hemlock, MI.

The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, 1471 E. 12 Mile Rd., Madison Heights, MI 48071 in lieu of flowers.
