Mr. Matthew Ryan Evancho passed away at his home in Lansing on August 23, 2018.  He was born September 20, 1988 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan a son of Kenneth John and Pamela Lee (nee: Bober) Evancho.

Matthew was a Brighton High School graduate, class of 2007.  It was there that he started his travels and love of the theater, movies and music.  Following high school he made a low budget movie in the “Animal House” vain.  From this experience he had hoped to continue his writing with both novels and scripts.  He was a member of the Thespian Guild.  Matt loved his family!  He was compassionate to a fault and a bit eccentric.  Always had a joke to tell.  If there was a party with a dance floor that is where you would find Matthew.  But the greatest tribute to Matthew was that he followed the teaching of Jesus as found in the scriptures of Matthew 25.  While living in Grand Rapids he was known to go to McDonalds and buy a bag of hamburgers, having one for himself and sharing the rest with those less fortunate than he, thereby emulating the teachings of Jesus.

Matthew leaves behind his loving parents; Pamela L. Evancho-Helm and David Helm.  Dear brother of Mitchell (Rachel) Evancho, Meredith (Daniel) Evancho-Salyers, Gabbie Helm and Garrett Helm.  Special uncle to Lagertha Lee Evancho.  Fond grandson of Charles Evancho, Gene & Erika Bober and James & Maryann Helm.  Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.  Matthew was preceded in death by his father; Kenneth J. Evancho (June 16, 2002), and grandmothers; Diane Evancho and Susan Evancho.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the funeral services at 5:00 P.M. at the McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, Michigan.  Pastor Drex Morton will assist the family in celebrating Matthew’s life.

The family is requesting memorial contributions to Mitchell Evancho for a trust fund to be established for Matthew’s niece Lagertha Lee Evancho in lieu of flowers.
