Emory L. Smith Jr., age 82 of Canton, passed away June 19, 2019.

Emory was born in Detroit on June 11, 1937 to Emory and Catherine Smith. After he graduated from high school, Emory proudly served in the United States Army as a medic for two years. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Judith, and together they had four children. Emory worked for the Taylor School District as their director of transportation. He enjoyed his time spent as a Mason, Shriner, and in the Scottish Rite. He was also active with the Benevolent Order of the Jester and the Crabs.

Emory was the beloved husband of Judith for 60 years. Loving father of Lezlie Smith, Susan (Wayne) Presley, Jason (Sandy) Smith and Amy Smith. Proud grandfather of Michael Presley (Jessie Szakal), Abby (Colin) Hagen, Chloe Presley, Corey Smith, Rachel Smith, Emory Smith, Mia Martinez and Marina Martinez. Dear brother of Virginia Greene, Geraldine (the late Robert) Harding, Catherine (George) McCourt, Jeanne (Gerald) Will, Lynn (Ronald) Sandberg, and brother-in-law of Constance Skotzke. Emory was also the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Emory will be held on Sunday, June 23, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a service at 7:00 p.m. by the Golden Ark #595 F. & A.M. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton. His funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, at 10:30 a.m. the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cherry Hill Cemetery, Canton.
