William Thomas Keenan

September 13, 1943 - January 15, 2021

William Thomas Keenan passed away January 15, 2021 at the age of 77.

He was the loving husband and partner of Debra for 44 years; devoted father of Kristie (Craig) Guadiano, Connie, Kathy, and William, Jr.; cherished papa of A.J., Aiden, and Jackson Guadiano, several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; and dear brother of Mary ‘Betty’ (David) Picucci.

William Thomas was born on September 13, 1943 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Phillip and Florence Keenan. He was their first born, with his sister Mary, joining after. When he was a young boy, William’s parents decided to make their way to Wixom, where they settled and raised their family. Bill graduated from Walled Lake High School and went onto obtain his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University.

Following his graduation, Bill began working for People’s Savings and Loan before starting his career in the waste and scrap metal industry. While working, Bill met Debra Burtle and the couple’s love grew as they became partners in life. They were married on June 12, 1984 in Lake Tahoe. The happy couple shared their love for their daughter, Kristie, and life continued to blossom.

As Kristie went through school, Bill became involved in her sporting events. This led him to become an avid North Farmington Raiders fan. He loved to watch their football games and supported their athletics until this day.

Bill was a hard worker, dedicating himself to the waste and scrap metal industry for the majority of his life. He was a recycler and made sure to use every opportunity to do so.

Bill and Debra loved to travel, visiting the Caribbean and cruising through the islands, soaking in the sunshine. He also loved to read, especially historical facts about Michigan. Newspapers and crossword puzzles were often found nearby.

Bill was very close with his grandsons, attending their sporting events and sharing ice cream, whenever possible. He and Deb had a wonderful marriage, full of love and beautiful memories.

Mr. Keenan will lie in state on Tuesday, January 19th, at 10:30 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. William Parish, 531 Common St, Walled Lake. He will be laid to rest at North Farmington Cemetery, Farmington Hills. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Stroke Association are appreciated.
