John Ronald Sobran

June 18, 1937 - July 9, 2021

John Ronald Sobran, age 84 of Farmington Hills, passed away July 9, 2021. He was born on June 18, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan to the late John and Mildred Sobran.

Ron’s pleasant demeanor and good sense of humor made for great company with both friends and family alike. He maintained many lifelong friendships and kept in touch with close friends weekly, getting together every Thursday evening for years. And his Saturday mornings were usually reserved for catching up with the guys at the shop. Ron didn’t consider himself much of a sports enthusiast but he was definitely a Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoyed photography and trips to Greenfield Village. All of Ron’s hobbies would often come together while practicing his photography skills.

Nothing compared, however, to Ron’s number one passion, his love of cars. To label him a car buff was an understatement. Ron was “The Car Whisperer”. He loved his career as a manager in auto sales and knew it well. Taking thousands of pictures throughout the years, along with collecting models, Ron lived for cars. He knew all the stats and impressed many with his endless knowledge. Even if it were pitch dark and a car was coming or going, he could tell you the exact make and model simply by looking at the head or taillights. Ron’s family and friends will certainly miss the great times and fun lessons he was always able to share.

Ron was the beloved husband of the late Carole. Loving father of Laura (Steve) Drahozal. Dear brother of Sharon Riccobono and Susan Sobran. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Sobran will be held on Thursday, July 15th, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. He will lie in state on Friday, July 16th, at 10:30 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Memorial donations in Ron's name are appreciated to Alzheimer's Association.
