Mama and Papa, I am so very sorry for your loss of Lance :( I know how much he struggled with this illness. While I never had the privilege of meeting Lance, I will never forget the stories Mama told of his love of cooking/grilling and for his kiddos! I miss you both so very much and am praying especially for your peace and your aching hearts during this time! Much love to you both, Casi

My heartfelt condolences to Evan, Kalyn, Kyle, Aunt Louise, Uncle Jack, my six Bratten first cousins, your families, and his friends. My fondest memories of you, Lance, were our best days as boys: riding our bikes all over the West Bloomfield Hills neighborhood; sleepovers (especially the ones setting up makeshift tents to sleep outside); our first T-ball team together (The Padres), running to the "pop car" after the game; swimming so many hours at a time our fingers looked like raisins; picking and eating apples and plums in the backyard until our stomachs ached; sledding down the hill to the old pump house until we were soaked; getting beaten nine times out of ten at Risk, Battle Ship, and Atari Tanks; hitting makeshift base balls and yelling grand slam!; attempting field goals in the side yard (only you would hold the ball properly, so sorry about that, Cuz); sneaking too much of Uncle Jack's famous ice tea and lemonade combo; bunking up for months after the '76 tornado; King Vitamin or Crunch Berries for breakfast; trips to Efros drug store to load up on candy before movies at Old Orchard; wearing our uniforms to see The Bad News Bears; and Estes rockets--to name a little more than a few. We had great times together as young and not so young adults as well, but nothing can beat the memories of those uncomplicated days as boys. Lance, I'm so sorry and regret very much that we lost touch these past years. May you experience forever joy in Heaven in the arms of The Lord. I'll see you again someday. Eric Zammit

My entire childhood memories are of all the wonderful times growing up with the Bratten family. I loved that we lived in the same neighborhood, vacationed together, spent every holiday together and even went to the same schools. It makes me so sad that Lance will not be there for family get togethers. As Lance was the baby of the family, he was surrounded by so many older brothers and sisters. He grew to be a wonderful man and father. Especially to you Aunt Louise and Uncle Jack, your pain will be profound but I hope that in time you will feel comfort in the memories of the times that you were with Lance and loved him. Thinking of and praying for you. Karen Schneck
