I remember Mrs. Shepard as my 3rd grade teacher and she was just one of a kind. She taught me math in a way that was enjoyable and fun to learn. She definitely drilled the times tables in our heads by having us do a quiz every week and also playing fun math games. For those of you who had her as a teacher, do you remember her cowbell? She rang that to get our attention when we were being loud. You never forget that sound even 25 years later. She was just an incredible teacher. She made me a better student and definitely gave me a lot of confidence in myself as a kid. She was tough but no matter what she believed in you. Her toughness is what pushed you to be better as a student. Even more than a teacher, she was just an incredible person. She was full of life, wisdom, courage. She was the kind of teacher whose lessons you never forgot and her toughness, her love, and her faith in you to do better is what made you not only a great student, but a great person. She was a huge inspiration and she will never be forgotten. Heaven has just gained the best teacher!!! My prayers remain with her family including the Dwyer family.
Memories
Mrs. Shepard curled up in her chair in the family room grading papers no matter what time Julie and I returned from whatever we were up to that evening. What an amazing, strong woman. She raised the person who is my best friend. When you look at all of her children, you see her kindness, strength and love.
