I remember the honor and joy of being in your wedding!!

Dave was a wonderful individual, but I cannot talk about him without mentioning his caring wife Sue, as they were so devoted to each other, and worked together as a team. In addition to being wonderful neighbors, Dave and Sue were welcoming and generous patrons of our four high school foreign exchange students and our son, taking them (and us!) to see plays, UM football, the Tigers and more, sharing their love of Detroit and Michigan, and building lasting relationships with these young adults. They were also generous benefactors in hiring young people for house or cat sitting or other tasks, giving them responsibilities which built their self esteem as well as helping them financially. As the honorary Carlson family photographer I got to see firsthand his love and devotion to his family, and his delight in them. When my own family was out of town on my birthday, Dave & Sue would insist on taking me out to celebrate. One year, when it began to snow heavily, rather than cancel, Dave chose a different restaurant and got us there safely, and we had a wonderful evening. That was only one of many occasions we celebrated together. Their house was always our last stop on Halloween, so our (then young) son could show them his costume. Dave was always welcoming, with a genuine interest in talking with you. I will miss his welcoming smile and generous spirit. May his memory be a blessing and comfort to his family and friends
