I remember how close Mary Jo was to her parents, Mary and John Buffum. Her mom was very much like Mary Jo with her funny remarks and Irish sayings. They adored their little girl. I remember her having two dogs she spoiled rotten, Sambo and Nipper P. D. Jones. I have no idea where she got those names. I also remember sitting near a puddle in her back yard making eggs out of mud using spoons her mom gave us. Redi Whip had just come out and I also remember her Mom squirting some on our jello and doing it the wrong way which sent it all over her hair (recently having had a permanent) and Mary Jo laughing so hard she wet her pants. I have such happy and funny memories of Mary Jo and although I had lost touch except for meeting with her two years ago at our half way point in Florida I will miss her. She made my childhood, which was difficult at times, a happier place.
