Paul Joseph Cassar passed away April 14, 2020 at the age of 91.

He was the devoted spouse of the late Mary for 48 years; loving father of David (Anne), Janet (Peter) Ridulfo, and Nancy (Joseph) Mifsud; caring grandfather of Jason, Angie, Melissa, Danielle, and Jordan; cherished great grandfather of 6; and dear brother of Charles (late Mary), Rita (late Maurice), Connie (Felix), Mary (Sam), and the late Alphonse (late Rose). Paul also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Paul Joseph was born on December 11, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to Joseph and Assunta (Azzopardi) Cassar. One of six children, Paul had a family-oriented upbringing. He joined the United States Navy during WWII and was incredibly proud of his service. Following his return home, he met and married Mary Fenech in 1950. Shortly after, the couple was blessed with three children: David, Janet, and Nancy.

Paul began a successful career in the shipping industry as a truck driver and continued before retiring after over 40 years of dedication. Following retirement, Paul could be found with his wife in Florida or in northern Michigan, enjoying his cottage. He was devoted to his wife and was devastated when she passed away in 1998. 

Paul was a devout catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Fabian Catholic Church. His faith guided him as he walked through life. Paul was always friendly, talkative and warm. He was gracious, had charisma and would always be seen wearing his favorite cap. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family up north and knew it was important to keep his heritage alive. His love and influence will live on in the hearts of many.

Mr. Cassar's Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. with gathering beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 West Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills in his name.
