Clarence 'Doc' Myrold

April 3, 1925 - July 1, 2021

Clarence ‘Doc’ W. Myrold passed away July 1, 2021 at the age of 96. He was the loving husband of Cecile ‘Nan’ for 71 years; devoted father of Kris (Joyce), Karen, Kevin (Debbie), Kathryn (Dan) Mikol, and Russell Edelen; cherished grandfather of Jennie (David), John (Tiffany), Charlene, Kellie (Derek), T.J., Kyle, Christopher (Laura), Adam (Christina), Erica (Joey), Breanna, and Sam (Anup); and dear great grandfather of Kristian, John, Jessica, Seth, Jordyn, Sawyer, Pierson, Hudson, and Eisley.

Doc Myrold was born in Detroit on April 3, 1925 to Kristian and Annie Myrold. He attended Cass Technical High School and joined the United States Army following his graduation. Doc proudly served his country during WWII and after returning home, began taking classes at the University of Detroit where he would obtain his Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree and Master’s degree in Business Administration. After college, Doc began to work for General Motors before finding himself at Hubbell, Roth, and Clark consulting engineers. He retired on April 27, 1990 from HRC after many years of dedication. Doc continued to free-lance for several years, perfecting his craft. Doc had incredible skill, designing, and building his family’s home that they shared for nearly 70 years.

In the late 1940’s, Doc met Nan Edelen and the couple wed on August 19, 1950. After a few years of being a family of two, the Myrolds were given the opportunity to adopt a baby through the Lutheran Social Services of Michigan. This was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. As the years went on, the Myrolds continued to adopt and were blessed with 4 children, with a fifth to follow.

Doc  had true devotion to the Lord and loved to sing. He and his wife always attended Sunday services and were lifelong members of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church’s choir. Doc was also a member of the ARPI male chorus in the Swedish Club of SE Michigan, the Norwegian Men’s Club, the Swedish Club, and the Sons of Norway, frequently going on excursions with their close group of friends. The pair travelled extensively for his passion. Going on cruises and visiting Hawaii was also a hit for Doc and Nan. A yearly adventure in August to Mackinac Island’s Grand Hotel for an AIA Conference was always a treat for their family.

The couple enjoyed downhill skiing and would take their family along for the fun. They loved to go tent camping in Interlochen and Canada, sharing the experience with their children and grandchildren. Doc was incredibly loving. He was a wonderful father and a grandfather. Doc had a strong work ethic and was full of love and kindness. His family will be forever grateful.

Mr. Myrold’s family will receive friends on Thursday, July 15th, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.
