Thomas J. Moran Jr., age 69 of Farmington Hills passed peacefully in his home on June 17, 2016, while surrounded by his family.

Tom was born in Manhattan, New York City and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey with his two brothers and sister. He greatly enjoyed being a pitcher on a high school baseball team as well as pitching on a Semi Pro team and graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1964. Tom also loved to golf, ride motorcycles, fly fish, work out with his friends at the "Y" and always loved spending time with family and friends.

Tom served in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal and fought in the Vietnam War. He earned a National Defense Service medal, Republic Vietnam Campaign medal, Vietnam Service medal, rifle expert badge with a M-14, good conduct medal as well as a Purple Heart.

Tom's working career started as a lineman for a New Jersey telephone company. His career progressed over the years from a Sales Representative for Brown & Sharp, Sales Manager for Sandvik Steel Inc., to Director, Sales & Service for DynaPath Systems Inc., Arobotech Executive Vice President-Sales & Marketing, President of Sony Precision Technology Americas Inc. and CogniTens and finally retiring from Zeiss in April 2013. Through his career he traveled the world, encountering many wonderful people whom have become dear friends.

Tom leaves his wife Dixie of 48 years; daughter Tara (Craig) Cowden and grandchildren Camrin, Carson and Cager from Florida; sons Bryan (Michelle) of Commerce, MI and Tom (Cortney) of Providence, RI; siblings Larry (Tamie) of Georgia, Donald (Debbie) of New Jersey and Jane (Bob) O'Connell.

Visitation Saturday, June 25th from 12 noon until time of Service 3pm with Military Funeral Honors to follow at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Michigan Beer Esophageal Cancer Research Fund, Angela Hospice or Botsford Cancer Center, 28050 Grand River Avenue, Farmington Hills 48336.
