Linda Sue Girolami-Petty, age 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 26, 2017. Loving wife of Anthony for 32 years. Outstanding mother of Anthony II and Quynn Petty. Cherished daughter of Gale and the late Victor Girolami. Best sister ever of Gigi (Bob) Steel, Jayne (Gary) Hines, Tom Girolami and Michael (Lisa) Girolami and sister-in-law of Julieanne (Martin) Malone, Meribeth (Paul) Tyszkiewicz, Ralph Jr. (Cindy) Petty, Lesa Pickell, Andrew (Jeanne) Petty, and Angela Stefut. Linda also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends who all adored her.

Linda was born in Whitefish Bay, WI on October 7th 1954 the third child and third daughter to Victor and Gale Girolami. She moved with her family to Farmington, MI when she was 4 years old. She attended Our Lady of Refuge Elementary School, O.E. Duckel Middle School, and graduated from North Farmington High School in 1974, where she was a member of both the gymnastics team and varsity cheerleading team. She then went on to Western Michigan University but then returned to Farmington Hills. Linda managed restaurants, sold wine, and installed computer systems before finally joining the family business, Michigan Industrial Shoe, where she worked for 33 years. When her father and mother retired, Linda and her brother, Michael, took over and grew the business together, as partners.

Linda met her husband Tony Petty in 1982 and they were married in 1985. Linda and Tony welcomed their first child, Anthony, in 1989 and their second, Quynn, in 1994. Linda was always a voracious supporter of her children, spending countless hours at hockey games and horse shows cheering on her son and daughter. Her support and guidance extended to all aspects of her children’s lives and now Anthony is a Ph.D student at the University of Kentucky and Quynn is a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Novi, MI.

Linda’s welcoming and kind personality made her dear to many at every point in her life, from her school years until her last few months. She was adored by her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She made the effort to bring people together, whether it was Euchre parties or her Epic Dinner Club, or during the holidays where she worked tirelessly to make her home a festive and welcoming place for any who may want to come. She held the family together during difficult times and was always available to offer guidance, or just to listen.
