Robert H. Bauer

January 28, 1927 - January 22, 2018

Robert H. Bauer, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018.

Robert graduated from Cass Technical High School and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1944, where he trained in Radar school. He was stationed in Nuremberg and Bremerhaven (Bremener Harbour), Germany and was permanently assigned to the 42nd Air Repair Squadron. Upon his honorable discharge, Robert continued his passion and graduated from Wayne State University in 1953 with his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He started a career with the Eaton Corporation in 1967. While working there, he attended night school at U of D and went on to receive his master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Robert remained with the Eaton Corporation until he retired in 1989 as Principal Engineer.

Robert was lucky to meet a wonderful woman by the name of Ruth. Ruth appreciated and enjoyed life, sharing her passion of art and music. They married in 1955 and created a family with two daughters, Lisa and Karen. The Bauer family moved to Farmington Hills in 1966 where his daughters grew up and attended high school. Robert was a dedicated husband and father who worked diligently for his family. He was willing and proud to be able to provide such a wonderful life for those who meant the world to him.

Unfortunately, Ruth succumbed to ovarian cancer and passed away in 2008. Thankfully Robert had the love and support of his family to help him through such a heartbreaking loss.

Robert had endured much suffering himself over the past years. Although it was difficult to see him leave this world, it would have been much harder to see him stay in such pain. The comfort of knowing that Robert has now joined his wife Ruth for eternity makes this transition a bit more bearable. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew him, especially by his cherished family.

Robert was the beloved husband of the late Ruth. Loving father of Lisa (Jim) Biel and Karen (Steve) Warnke. Proud grandfather of Emma and Max Warnke. Dear brother-in-law of Virginia Bour.

Services for Mr. Bauer will be held at a future date.

Memorial donations in Mr. Bauer’s name are appreciated to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
