James E. Spivey, age 70, passed away April 24, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

James lived an accomplished life, providing service every step of the way. Serving our country, he was a proud Army veteran. He went on to protect and serve the citizens of Detroit, retiring from the Detroit Police Department after many years of dedication. He graduated from the Detroit College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree. James continued to work for the Wayne County Sheriff's office and retired just this last December. He was known for his work ethic, but he also enjoyed it immensely. Aside from loving his life of work, James was able to relax from time to time, fishing and riding his motorcycle. What was most important to James, however, was his cherished family. He will truly be missed beyond measure.

James is survived by his loving children, Jwyanza Spivey, Marcus Spivey and KiAnna Spivey, and their mother, Michele Spivey. He was the proud grandfather of Imani Spivey and Indaya Spivey. Dear brother of Elois Thornton, Carolyn Ann Eason and the late Mae Richard. James is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation for James will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Military Funeral Honors at 7:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.
