Carol Dawn Cecchini Prince

November 5, 1942 - December 25, 2018

Carol Dawn Cecchini Prince, 76, peacefully departed this world on December 25, 2018 in Belleair, Florida, after a long battle with dementia.  Dawn is survived by her daughters Jahnee Prince of Atlanta, Georgia and Jamie Prince (Brad Hopkins) of Clearwater, Florida; her grandson Hal Hopkins and her granddaughter Brooke (Mark) Olexa: and her siblings Eugene Cecchini, Thomas Cecchini, and Karen (John) Norris.  She was preceded in death by her husband John Prince, and her parents Clementina and Gino Cecchini.

Dawn was born November 5, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan.  Dawn married John Prince on November 2, 1963 and they were married for nearly 30 years until his passing.  Dawn met all of life’s challenges with self-confidence and determination.  Dawn was one of the first female managers at General Motors’ Detroit Assembly and, together with her husband, was part of the initial team that opened the Truck and Bus plant in Moraine, Ohio in 1981.  In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dawn was a political activist and leader in the women’s movement.  She was the President of the Dayton, Ohio chapter of the National Organization for Women in the late 1980s and early 1990s.  Dawn had many friends and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Xi Theta Epsilon chapter.  Dawn loved babies, hosting parties, raising money for charity, and eating dessert first.  Dawn was proud of her children and doted on her grandchildren.  Dawn will be remembered for her professional and political accomplishments, her love of family and friends, and for being everyone’s favorite crazy “Aunt Cheech”.

The family would like to thank her caregivers at Pacifica Belleair for all their help and support.

The family will receive friends at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, Michigan on Saturday, January 12th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. Internment will be at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan.
