She was the loving wife of John for 41 years; devoted mother of John (Michelle) and Jenna (Andre) Perrotta; cherished grandmother of Mia, Luca, and Grace; dear sister of Pamela Cudney, Vincent (Debbie) Lonero and Tod Lonero; caring sister-in-law of David (late Sue) Sgalia and Janice (Eric) Friedland; and beloved daughter of the late Salvatore and late Irene Lonero. Patricia Ann was born on May 9, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Salvatore and Irene Lonero. She attended St. Beads Elementary School before going to Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills. Pat graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and became an intern at Beaumont Hospital, transitioning into pediatric occupational therapy. On September 21, 1977, Pat met John Sgalia on a blind date (arranged by mutual friends) and the rest is history. The two were married shortly after on April 21, 1979 and the loving couple was blessed with their son, John and daughter, Jenna. Being a mother completed Pat. She was an avid supporter of her children’s sports and activities. After her children were born, Pat decided to take a new direction that brought her to Ferndale Public Schools and later Holly Public Schools where she enjoyed over 20 years of dedicated service. She was a fearless supporter for what was right in any situation. As a compassionate and creative therapist, Pat helped thousands of developmentally challenged children and mentored their families. Pat was also a longtime member of St. Fabian Catholic Church, teaching Pre-K Sunday School after her retirement in 2014. Pat was an outstanding role model for her children and loved her family unconditionally. She was a problem solver and solution finder; one could always look to Pat for guidance. She was full of energy, bright and angelic, patient, and compassionate. Pat was the center of her family and the glue that held them together. She adored her grandchildren as they were to her, the most precious gift. They became her main focus as her life revolved around her family. Pat’s loveliness will be forever missed.
