Susan E. Peters

April 28, 1943 - September 9, 2020

Susan Elizabeth Peters, age 77 of Linden, passed away suddenly on September 9, 2020.

Sue was born on April 28, 1943 in Detroit to the late William and the late Hilda “Betty” White. Raised in the city along with her three siblings, Sue grew up in a loving and nurturing home. A close-knit family, they enjoyed many activities and made countless memories together. Her parents were devoted to giving their children a happy home. The extra special touches her mother provided will remain a grateful memory, as she even created the children’s clothing and costumes, like the girls’ special ballerina ensembles. They were given so much love and attention yet taught how to remain humble and treat everyone with the kindness and respect they deserved.

It was through friends that Sue would come to meet the love of her life, Mike. He was from the other side of the city, and they clicked almost instantly. Soon, dates were planned, and Sue found she enjoyed the same things he did. They would cruise around, paint cars, and even looked forward to visiting the junk yards. Sometimes, Sue found she didn’t necessarily need Mike every time she wanted to enjoy a car ride, as she would cruise up and down Woodward in his hot rod while he was at work. But nothing beat cruising together, and the couple carried on the tradition throughout their lives together. They married June 13th, 1964 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in the then Poletown.

Sue appreciated the finer things in life. Although she didn’t often wear it, she loved fine jewelry. She collected beautiful pocket watches “for Mike”. She had more Coach purses than anyone you know. Shoes were a bit of an obsession, but what lady could turn down a beautiful new pair? With all the “girly” accessories, it sometimes came as a bit of a surprise how much Sue loved her cars, especially hot rods. She had many corvettes along the way, with her most recent prized Red Corvette being the car she treasured the most. She never missed the Woodward Dream Cruise, and she and her family just loved to get out and drive.

Sue adored life, loved to laugh, and always had a good time. She enjoyed listening to her music, like The Bee Gees, Elton John, and the soundtrack from one of her favorite movies, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She was the life of the party. She always looked her best but was never vain. As a cosmetologist, she was stylish, with her signature hair perfectly coiffed.

Sue was the glue that held her family together, especially since her dear mother passed just a short time ago in October of last year. She will be remembered for so many remarkable things. To be in her company was pure joy. Most of all, she was so devoted to her husband and children. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and sister, so proud of the family she built. Her passing has left a void that will never be filled, but the love alone she shared will continue to give much comfort to the ones she’s left behind.

Sue was the beloved wife of Mike for 57 wonderful years. Loving mother of Michael (Shannon) Peters and Jennifer Peters. Cherished grandmother of Nicholas and Ethan. Dear sister of Patricia White, Penelope White, and William White. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Sue will be held on Sunday, September 13th, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Politely keeping everyone's safety in mind, family and friends will be asked to wear a mask and maintain proper distancing while attending visitation and funeral services.
