Felix Polan

July 13, 1922 - September 30, 2020

On Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Felix Phillip “Bud” Polan of Farmington Hills, Michigan passed away at the age of 98.

Beloved husband of the late Alice Polan for 70 cherished years. Loving father of Pam (Dan) Polan-Wilcox and Gail (Tracy) Purcell. Proud grandfather of Katie (Luis) Goncalves and Cody Purcell. Cherished great grandfather of Michelle Goncalves.

Felix served in the Navy from 1942-1946. He was assigned to the USS Sproston and served in many places throughout the Pacific during World War II.

After the war, Felix attended Lawrence Technological University and received his degree in Industrial Engineering. He then worked as an engineer for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company for 31 years.

He had a lifelong passion for baseball and played as a catcher throughout high school and for Lawrence Tech. He proudly watched the Detroit Tigers play nearly every game on their schedule.

Felix was an avid University of Michigan Wolverines fan, and held season football tickets for 27 years. He would regularly reminisce about the days of hosting tailgates and getting into disagreements with Ohio State fans in Columbus after a loss. Even though he would primarily cheer GO BLUE, he managed to find a soft spot in his heart for the Michigan State Spartans when his two grandkids attended college there.

When he wasn't busy watching sports, he loved to travel with his family, and especially loved the trips he and his wife took during his retirement.

Felix was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Due to current circumstances, private family services for Mr. Polan will be held.

Interment will take place at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park.
