Mario B. Pastores, age 71 of Westland, passed away February 3, 2021.

Mario was born on January 29, 1950 in Natividad, Philippines to Amando and Margarita Pastores. His caring and selfless nature guided him to a career as a nurse. Mario enrolled at Philippine Union College and graduated with a bachelor's in Nursing. While attending nursing school, he met his true love, Virginia, and the two wed in 1974. Mario dedicated over 40 years to the nursing profession; 30 of those years as an ER Nurse at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia before retiring in 2016. Even outside of work, his kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Mario was always there to help his fellow man.

Mario enjoyed the simple things in life, such as listening to music, going to concerts and traveling. He especially enjoyed time spent in Las Vegas playing the slot machines. Above all else, Mario loved his family and he will be remembered for his big heart and compassion for others.

Mario was the beloved husband of Virginia for 46 years. Loving father of Melanie and Armand Joseph Pastores. Dear brother of Teodoro and Efren Pastores and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Mario is preceded in death by his siblings, Ludenila Pastores Pechon and Ignacio Pastores; and his four legged companion, his dog Godiva.

Visitation for Mr. Pastores will be held on Friday, February 5th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Road, Canton.

The family requests donations in Mario’s memory be made to the University of Michigan Palliative Care Gift Fund.
