Sandra Lynn McLean

October 12, 1942 - September 15, 2022

Sandra Lynn McLean passed away September 15, 2022 at the age of 79. She was the loving wife of Robert for 59 years; devoted mother of Michael (Melissa) and Mark (Sheron); cherished grandmother of Brynn, William, Abigail, Abbey, and Maggie; dear sister of Donna (late John) Travelstead and sister-in-law to the late Barbara Humphries.

Sandra Lynn was born in Detroit on October 12, 1942 to Sidney and Barbara Resner. She graduated from Cooley High School and went on to receive her associate degree from Western Michigan University. Before attending college, Sandy was set up on a blind date with Robert McLean by a close mutual friend. Robert was the lucky man to catch Sandy’s heart. After a two-year courtship, the happy couple married on June 8, 1963 at Strathmoor Methodist Church in Detroit.

After marriage, Sandy began her career working for Ford Motor Company before being blessed with two sons, Michael and Mark. Sandy was a caring mother, always putting the children’s needs first and keeping her family happy. After raising her sons, Sandy went back to work at Ford Motor Company, later retiring after many years of dedication.

Sandy and Robert loved their RVs. The whole family would spend their summers out West and once retirement hit, Sandy and Robert became full time RVers. They travelled all throughout the United States, visiting 49 states. They frequented Arizona and were blessed to have their children and grandchildren enjoy a few visits.

If the McLeans were not in their RV, they were making their way by train. The first time Sandy left Detroit was by train to California. She reveled in the scenery, enjoying the mountains and valleys. The McLeans were also blessed to travel on cruises and visit Europe with their family. Christmas was important and wherever their family was, Sandy and Robert were close behind.

Sandy was always excited to see her grandchildren and had a knack for making them feel special. She made sure to engage in activities with them as she loved to dance and listen to music. Above all, Sandy had a servant’s heart. Her kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. McLean’s family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22nd, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Sandy’s name.
