Wayne E. Weiss, age 79 of South Lyon, passed away suddenly on November 20, 2022. He was born on January 14, 1943 in Detroit to Hermann and Constance Weiss.

Wayne was raised in Inkster and a graduate of Robichaud High School, Class of 1961. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University and receive his master’s degree from Ball State University. Wayne was proud to dedicate over 40 years to his career as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch.

Growing up, Wayne was very close to his parents and shared a special bond, especially while taking care of them in their later years. To his wife and children, he was a devoted husband and father who loved his family deeply. As Wayne became a grandpa, his grandchildren quickly became the center of his universe. Beaming with pride, he supported them in all their life’s efforts. As their number one fan, his enthusiasm never wavered while he attended many of their extracurricular actives, from baseball and field hockey games, to dance and track and swim meets. At any given moment, he was the comic relief everyone came to know and appreciate. While driving past a golf course, he managed to perfectly time the honk of his car horn with the swing of an unsuspecting and unfortunate golfer. And there was always someone on the other end of the banana phone. His goofy jokes could always make you smile, particularly because it was all in good nature.  

Wayne was a big college football fan and loved to travel all over the United States. His true passion, however, was hitting the slopes. As an avid skier, he belonged to the Ann Arbor Ski Club and was ready to suit up whenever the opportunity arose. With such a genuine and caring disposition, Wayne was beyond generous and would help anyone no matter what. He was a hard worker and extremely intelligent, and knew how to balance responsibility with fun. His dependability with family and friends was constant, and he sincerely loved with his whole being. Wayne’s passing has truly left a hole in the hearts of those who loved him the most. The love he shared, along with the memories made, will be remembered always and treasured forever.

Wayne was the beloved husband of the late Mary. Cherished father of Randy and Renay (Mike) Weiss-Stansell. Proud grandpa of Danny, Bella and Grace. Loving brother of Jerry (Liz). Dear cousin of Carol Goebel. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Hermann and Connie.

Visitation for Wayne will be held on Friday, November 25th, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 26th, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

Memorial donations in Wayne’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
