John Daniel Miner, age 81 of Canton, passed away November 29, 2022. He was born on October 24,1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Ira and Arlene Miner.

John was raised in Detroit and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. He went on to earn his Associates degree from Detroit College Of Business in 1968 and also attended Nazareth College in Kalamazoo. He began his career working as a national sales manager for Borroughs Corporation which afforded him the opportunity to travel across the country. At the same time, he also owned two laundromats in Detroit and Taylor. He later started his own manufacturing business, Minco Sales Incorporated, producing equipment for grocery stores. As the manufacturing representative for the company, he worked all throughout the Midwest alongside his two sons, Todd and Ross.

Aside from being a successful businessman, John was also a devout Catholic and daily communicant and a strong advocate for pro-life causes. His faith guided him throughout his life. He had a love of all dogs but especially German shepherds. He enjoyed playing cards, going grocery shopping for hours at a time, and trips to Venice, Florida every winter with his wife, Gloria. Above all else, he was a patriarch and a true family man whose love knew no bounds. John will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by family, friends, and all whom he encountered.

John was the beloved husband of Gloria for 57 years. Loving father of Todd Miner of Canton, Ross (Kelly) Miner of Canton, Shauna (John) MacLeod of Louisville, KY. Proud grandfather of Christian Miner, David Martin, Sebastian Miner, Cameron MacLeod, Kelsey MacLeod, John Francis Miner and great-grandfather of Gabriel, Alexndria, Charlotte, and Coraline. Dearest brother of Pat and Linda Miner. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and his four-legged companion, his dog Casper.

Visitation for John will be held Friday, December 2nd, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton. He will lie in state on Saturday, December 3rd, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 44800 Warren Rd., Canton. John will be laid to rest in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights.

In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family requests that a Mass be offered in John’s honor.
