Marion C. Rouke, age 95 of Commerce Township, passed away January 23, 2023. She was born May 23, 1927 in Detroit to Cecil and Marie Yarger. Marion was a loving and independent woman with a strong sense of what she believed was fair and right. She was strong and sensitive. That strength stemmed from growing up in Detroit during the Great Depression and the rationing of World War II. Her family could not afford fruit or a phone and had one lightbulb in their house. Her mother did housecleaning, and her dad, who suffered serious injuries in the WWI Battle of the Argonne Forrest, was a taxi driver. She approached everything with resilience and a sense of optimism. Marion married George Rouke in San Antonio, Texas when she was 17 and had two children, Greg and Gary. She deeply loved all of her family, her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and many good friends. She liked to travel, and along with her husband, ended up with a home in the Florida Keys. She loved to spend time there and made many lifelong friends during her Florida stays. One of Marion’s true passions in life was knitting. She knit all the time. Over the years she made vests, sweaters, baby clothes and blankets, prayer shawls and many other things. She had an extensive collection of rosaries from all over the world. And she loved to gather with friends and family to play games - Yahtzee, Pinochle, Left/Right/Center, Mexican Train, Farkle and others (with big betting using quarters!). She truly loved life. After George died, she learned how to use a computer, iPad and iPhone. She loved her iPad! Marion was the beloved wife of the late George Rouke. Loving mother of Greg (Lizabeth Ardisana) Rouke and the late Gary Rouke. Cherished grandmother of Kelly (Robert) Rouke McCoon, Geoff (Randy) Rouke, and Carly (Perry) Keydel. Great-grandmother of Grady, Graham, Carson, and Cameron. Dear sister of the late Evelyn Ford and the late Donald Yarger. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Rouke will be held on Sunday, January 29th, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, January 30th, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Waterford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marion’s name may be made to Michigan Humane.Marion C. Rouke

Later in life when Marion’s health started to falter, her spirit didn’t. She believed in the Lord and being good and kind to people. And most of all, she always felt that we all should BE GRATEFUL!
