Richard Joseph Adams, Jr.

July 21, 1922 - February 6, 2023

Richard Joseph Adams Jr. passed at 100 years old, but was a life-long child at heart. He was a low-key prankster who could rarely be caught in the act. (He was far too skilled in his sneakiness to be accused of the nonsense that he created.)

He loved his five grandchildren, and they adored him endlessly. They lovingly referred to him as Boop, for his classic move: the boop on the nose.

He was loved as a husband to Nancy, father to Kimberly (Joseph) and Alyson, grandfather to Zoey, Joey, Archer, Anson, and Adelyn, godfather to Susan, uncle to many, and friend to everyone who knew him. He passed on February 6, 2023, and this world will never be the same.

Those who knew Dick knew that he loved dates. To honor him, the family chose two very special dates for the visitation and funeral services. The first, February 15th, is his mother’s birthday. And the second, February 16th, is the 78th anniversary of his jump on the island of Corregidor, “The Rock”, in the Philippines, as a paratrooper in World War II.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in North Farmington Cemetery in Farmington Hills, immediately following the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s name can be made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
