On March 8, 2023, Mary Lou Richoz Dobat (née Kuntz) passed away peacefully at the Henry Ford Hospital in West Bloomfield after a brief illness. Survived by her daughters, Debra Myers (David), Dianne Barclay (Randell), Kiera Donna Laike, and Deidre Robinson; step-children, Leslie Mason, Nancy Waineo (Dean), Tom Dobat, John Dobat; sister-in -law Judy Richoz ; 7 grandchildren, Nicole Myers, Amanda Myers, Jeffrey Myers, Michael Petrillo (Melissa), Kaitlin Petrillo, Jessica Robinson (Felix Heilbronner)  and Nicholas Rhys Harber, 9 step-grandchildren, Benjamin Waineo (Sarah)  Rebecca Waineo, Anna Waineo, Jack Dobat, Sam Dobat, Lily Dobat, Joseph Dobat, Charlie Dobat and Grace Dobat as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews, Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Charles F. Richoz, Jr. and Richard D. Dobat.

Mary was born in 1935 in Princeville, Illinois, to Edward R. and Ida E. Kuntz (nee Gudeman) and graduated from Princeville High School in 1953. She grew up on a farm with three brothers, Donald, James, and Jack Kuntz, who all preceded her in death. Mary worked as an accountant in commercial real estate, was CFO of a consulting firm until her retirement at age 80, and served as treasurer of her church. She was actively involved in various programs, including Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. An avid sports fan, Mary was a staunch Michigan supporter. She enjoyed playing word and card games, spending time at home, and feeding the many birds around her house. Her family, church, and faith were her greatest priorities.

A Memorial Service in memory of Mary will be held on Saturday, June 17, at 11:00 am at the Pilgrim Congregational Church located at 3061 N Adams in Bloomfield Hills, MI. A light luncheon will follow.
