James "Jimmy" Starr, age 82 of Farmington Hills, passed away on April 27, 2023. He was born on September 9, 1940 in Detroit to Michael and Mary Starr. He attended St. Gabriel High School and graduated in 1958. Following graduation, he began working for the Grand Trunk Railway , which was later acquired by Amtrak. Jimmy had a real knack for numbers and it wasn't long before his workplace took notice, sending him to school in New Jersey to become an accountant. Jimmy thoroughly enjoyed his work and dedicated many years as an accountant for Amtrak before he retired.

Jimmy was quite proud of his Irish heritage and would often celebrate it by going to the Irish Club and dancing to the Irish step dances. He also enjoyed any opportunity to go out to eat with family and friends at Steve's Family Dining in Livonia, Michigan where they enjoyed many delicious meals together. Jimmy was a devout Catholic and advocate for Blessed Solanus Casey and would attend Mass as much as he possibly could. He will forever be loved and missed by his friends and family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary Starr; his brother, John; and his aunts and uncles, Margaret, Anna, Katherine, Delia, Hanna, Mary, Tom, Pat, and John. He is survived by many dear cousins.

Mr. Starr will lie in state on Thursday, May 11th, at 10:30 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Fabian Catholic Church, 32200 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. He will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, Detroit.
