Marjorie Lucille Sayles

October 15, 1931 - May 18, 2023

Marjorie “Marj” Sayles passed away on May 18, 2023, at her home in Novi, Michigan, after a long life filled with family, friends, and community service.

Born in Detroit to Harold and Lucile Corsette, Marjorie attended Michigan State University where she obtained a BA in English and met Fred Sayles to whom she was married for 57 years. After a brief career as an English teacher, she and Fred raised their 3 children in Farmington Hills at their beloved historic home on Holly Hill. Active in her children’s lives, Marjorie was a girlscout leader, supporter at athletic events, a talented seamstress, and an animal lover who instilled in her children the love of critters. Marjorie was very active in community affairs including as an advocate for Citizens for Better Care, Nardin Park Methodist Church and the Farmington Community Center and was always willing to lend a hand. A labor of love for she and Fred was updating and maintaining their old home and in her little spare time she earned a Library Science degree from Oakland Community College! After leaving her home for Fox Run Senior Living, she enjoyed many activities, foremost her writer’s group where she leaves a legacy as a favorite poet of the community.

Marjorie will be remembered as a thoughtful and generous friend and an amazing mom to her children. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her children Brenda Sayles, Tom Sayles and Jennifer (Dave) Lineberry, her six grandchildren Christopher (Brianna) Sayles, Kyle (Kelly) Lineberry, Spencer Lineberry, Blake Lineberry, Grant Sayles, and Thomas Sayles, and 3 great grandchildren, Maverick Sayles, Millie Mae Lineberry and Scarlett Lou Lineberry.

Visitation for Marjorie will be held Wednesday, June 28, from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 pm at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills.
