Judy Spicer

October 28, 1940 - September 2, 2023

Judy L. Spicer, age 82 of West Bloomfield, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family, on September 2, 2023.

Born on October 28, 1940 in Detroit, Judy was the youngest of nine children to Hugh and Isabel McPhee. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s of Redford High School, when during these years, she would be matched with a gentleman named William Spicer. Several short years later, Judy and Bill married on August 26, 1961 in St. Mary’s of Redford Catholic Church.

A dedicated wife and mother, Judy was the quintessential matriarch. She was an amazing baker and cook, preparing healthy meals for her family, and all from scratch. Candid and poised, Judy gave exceptional advice to her children. She led by example and carried herself accordingly, with style and grace. Her talents in the home extended beyond doting on her family, as she was known to throw the best parties. No detail was overlooked, as her presentations were always spot on. Each birthday and holiday party featured perfectly decorated tables, complete with one of her signature homemade desserts. Living on Union Lake for 27 years, she hosted countless parties, making incredible memories with her family, along with a tightknit group of friends she maintained since her high school years.

Judy and Bill always embraced the time they spent together. They truly appreciated each other’s company and had the most fun enjoying the simple things in life. Playing Euchre, Dominoes and card games (especially Sequence), the two had an ongoing and friendly competition. The higher score earned would award the winner their monthly and annual bragging rights. On a deeper level, Judy and Bill were a complete and perfect team, sharing a beautiful life together, along with a devout faith in their Lord.

Active in her faith and church, Judy was a longtime and dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Refuge Parish, and formally St. Fabian Catholic Church. She was an ardent pro-life advocate and supporter of Right to Life. Her strong, faith-based convictions were a firm and constant guide throughout her life, granting her the courage and confidence to share the Word of God with others.

Judy was the beloved wife of William for 62 wonderful years. Loving mother of William (Jenelle) and Kara (Glenn) Kushiner. Cherished grandmother of William (Kathleen), Sabrina (Travis), Samuel, and Lucy. She was also a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her eight siblings.

Visitation for Judy will be held on Sunday, September 10th, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service, at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. She will lie in state on Monday, September 11th, at 9:30 a.m., until the time of her Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Parish, 3700 Commerce Rd., Orchard Lake. She will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Judy’s name are appreciated to Right to Life.
