William Podorsek, age 89 of Canton, passed away November 4, 2023. He was born on February 6, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan to Rose and Anthony Podorsek.

William grew up in Detroit and attended McKenzie High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in The United States Navy. Upon his return, William enrolled at Michigan State University where he obtained his bachelor's degree in mathematics and later, his master’s degree at the University of Michigan. While in school for his master's degree, William started his teaching career at Adams Middle School. Having found his true passion, he then began teaching at Fordson High School and became a professor at Henry Ford Community College. William retired after 25 years of dedication to teaching.

During his career and after retirement, William spent his spare time as pari-mutuel teller for Detroit Racecourse. He enjoyed going to the racetracks in the area and handicapping the horse races. He was also an avid golfer. William will be remembered as a man who was dedicated to both his faith and his family throughout his entire life.

William was the beloved husband of Mary "Pat" for 69 years. Loving father of Karen (Kent), Elaine (Randy), Mary (Tony), William (Nancy), Janet, Kathy and Patricia (Michael). Proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 26 great-grandchildren. Dearest brother of Joseph (Mary Ann). He is also survived and loved by many extended family members and friends.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Anthony Podorsek, and his siblings, Jeanie, Larry and Harry.

Visitation for Mr. Podorsek will be held Thursday, November 9th, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary & Eulogy Service at 7:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home, 851 N. Canton Center Rd., Canton. He will lie in state Friday, November 10th, from 10:00 a.m. to the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas a’ Becket Catholic Church, 555 S. Lilley Rd., Canton. He will be laid to rest in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
