Robert Dale Carruthers, age 91 of Farmington, passed away November 5, 2023.

He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy for 58 years. Loving father of Robert (Andrea), Susan, and Tim (Laura). Proud Papa of Zachary, Jessica, Samantha, Andrew, Maria, Michael and Robert Noah. He was predeceased by his siblings Mary Ellen, Constance, Joseph and Donald.

Bob was born and raised in Detroit and graduated from Detroit Western High School where he was a highly rated swimmer/diver. He always told fond stories of the old Clark Park neighborhood growing up with his siblings. He served in the Army Reserve and then went to work at Ford as a drafter and tool and die maker. Later, he earned an associates degree at Henry Ford Community College and became a cost estimator at Ford, where he spent more than 40 years. He met the love of his life, Dorothy, at a church bowling league and they were married for 58 years until her death in 2018. Family was at the center of all that Bob loved. Nothing gave him more joy than spending time at the cherished cottage with family and friends in Lake Ann, Michigan. Bob loved fishing, bowling, golfing, reading, crossword puzzles, model ship building and making people laugh. His grandchildren were a blessing to him and nothing made him prouder than being their Papa. His warm spirit and sense of humor brightened the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Bob will take place on Thursday, November 9th, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. He will lie in state on Friday, November 10th, at 9:30 a.m., until the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd., Farmington. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
