Maria Lena Kuhn (nee Korolainen), age 86, passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2023, after a short illness. Maria was born July 22, 1937 to Hannah and Lauri Korolainen in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. After the family moved to Windsor, Maria met Adolph James (Jim) Kuhn, her loving husband of 61 years, who preceded her in death. Maria and Jim were fortunate to spend their first year of wedded bliss in Oahu, Hawaii where Jim was stationed in the Army. They were blessed with three daughters, Linda (Roger) Poirier, Cynthia (Bruce) Haffey and Mary (William) Archer. Maria was devoted to her eight grandchildren, Peter Haitaian, Michelle Stevens, James Haitaian, Matthew Stevens, Justin Poirier, Lisa Stevens, Brendan Haffey and Kiefer Haffey, and her 2 great grandchildren, Sofia and Rowan. Maria loved her many nieces and nephews. Maria had a deep love for children and served as a foster mother to many infants and toddlers. Maria will forever be cherished by her family and friends. The family is planning a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Maria’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org), Doctors Without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org), Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org) or any family that you know who are in need this holiday season.
