Walter Frederick McCoskey passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2023, surrounded by his family. His parents were Elsa Emma (Porth) McCoskey and Walter McCoskey, Sr.

Walter attended Cass Technical High School and went on to graduate from Lawrence Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951.

He then entered the Army in 1951 and served at the Chemical Core Research Center in Maryland. He met and married Patricia Ann Rau. They had two children, Walter Frank and Elizabeth Ann (Weber), four grandchildren, Matthew, Carolyn, Makayla and Monica, and two great grandchildren, Ranger and Lilah. Walter and Patricia were married 36 years. Patricia died in 1989.

Over the years, Walter worked at Packard Motor, Ford Motor Advanced Engineering, Budd Company Disc Brake, Pennsylvania Wire Rope and Firestone and Spartanburg Steel Products. Moving up positions from Engineer to Sales Manager. Walter also served several years on the Board of Deaconess Hospital.

Walter met Dorothy Cook at Nardin Park Church and they were married in 1990. This added three stepchildren, Dennis, Duane and Diane, six step grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren.

They were married for 32 years and lived in Farmington Hills. Walter enjoyed traveling, acquiring/displaying model cars, and enjoying train sets. Most recently, at Fox Run, Walter enjoyed participating in the Pinewood Derby races, winning 1st place at the first derby and 2nd place at last year's derby.

Walter stayed active in the church and enjoyed serving on the Nardin Park finance committee.

Visitation will be held at Nardin Park United Methodist Church, 29887 W. Eleven Mile Rd., Farmington Hills on Friday, January 5th, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Walter will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Detroit beside his wife, Patricia.
