Michael Edward Scanlon, of Ann Arbor passed away May 26, 2024 at the age of 70. Mike was born in Detroit on September 25, 1953, to Daniel and Margaret Scanlon. He graduated from De La Salle High School and attended the University of Detroit. While in high school, Mike ran on the cross-country team, was a member of the debate team, and enjoyed boxing. Mike worked as a salesman in the automotive industry and called Ann Arbor his home for many years. He was an avid traveler, frequented the Ann Arbor Public Library, and was fluent in Spanish. Mike was a longtime member of the Ann Arbor Alcoholics Anonymous community where he found a sense of belonging. Mike was the loving brother of Daniel (Marichu) Scanlon and Desmond (Joan) Scanlon; cherished uncle of Carly (Kaleb) O’Connor, Kate (Kevin) Cope, and Moira Scanlon; dear great uncle to his great nieces and nephews and devoted son of the late Daniel Regis and late Margaret Scanlon. Mike’s family will receive guests on Friday, May 31st, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of his Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. at McCabe Funeral Home – Canton Chapel, 851 N. Canton Center Road, Canton. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions to the Ann Arbor Public Library are appreciated in Mike’s honor.
