Irene Marchlewski, age 99, died peacefully on July 27, 2024 in her home at American House, West Bloomfield. She was born in Detroit to Polish immigrant parents, Jan and Maryanna Marchlewski.

Irene was a 1943 graduate of St. Hedwig High School. Shortly after graduation, she started working at Cadillac Motor Company in Detroit and retired after 42 years as an executive secretary in the engineering department. She was predeceased by her parents, her only sister Helen Barz and brother-in-law Bill Barz. Until recent years, she was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was proud of her Polish heritage and was active with many Polish-American groups. She is survived by her niece MaryAnn Hayes (Rob), nephew Bill Barz (Colleen), nephew John Barz (Debbie) and 5 great-nephews.

Ms. Marchlewski will lie in state on Monday, August 19th, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Westside, 7685 Grandville Ave., Detroit. She will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery, Detroit.
