Diane Marie Zabell (nee Dolan) passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Zabell; her brother, Steve and her parents, Don and Josephine Dolan.

Diane is survived by her siblings, Don Dolan and Nancy Skrzycki and in-laws Mary Teodosic, Mo Teodosic, and Kathleen Dolan. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Don Erik Dolan, April (Dave) Antczak, Kevin (Meg) Dolan, Philip (Pippa) Giovannini, Colleen Dolan, Susan (John) Lennon, Laura Giovannini, Patrick (Whitney) Dolan, Alex (Jaclyn) Teodosic, and Katherine (Adele) Teodosic.

Diane was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and later moved to Detroit with her family. She graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in accounting and went on to become a partner at the firm Ernst & Ernst. Diane married John Zabell and after joint successful careers, the couple retired early and followed their dream of sailing their boat ‘Spirit’ throughout the Bahamas and extended their travels to South America. Following too many adventures to enumerate, John and Diane settled in Ft. Myers, Florida. After John’s passing in 2015, Diane continued to travel and partake in art, bridge playing, and volunteering at the local animal shelter.

In 2024, Don, Nancy, and Mary brought Diane back to Michigan so she could be cared for in close proximity to her family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McCabe Funeral Home. Per Diane’s request, cremation will take place with a private family memorial at a later date.
