Orfeo Corona

April 4, 1932 - November 22, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Orfeo Corona, who left us peacefully on November 22, 2025, at the age of 93.

Born on April 4, 1932, in Villa Sant’Angelo (AQ), Italy, Orfeo lived a life defined by devotion to family, hard work, and generosity.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Pia; his children, Patrizia (David) Glencer, Sabatino (Pamela), and Rita (Paolo) Di Martino; and his cherished grandchildren, Liliana Corona, Massimo, and Matteo Di Martino. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sabatino and Agata Corona, and his brothers, Domenico and Francesco.  He is also survived by his sister, Angela Corona (Antonini) in Italy.

Born with a strong work ethic and a generous heart, Orfeo devoted his life to being a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.    Orfeo and Maria Pia immigrated to the United States to raise their family, and also making it possible for his parents, brothers and sister to follow.   He was a builder in every sense of the word—through his years in commercial and residential construction, as an independent business owner, and later during his career at Ford Motor Company. Known for his brick-working skills, he created garden patios for friends and family and volunteered his masonry talents to his former church in Detroit. His hands were rarely still, always crafting, tending gardens, cooking creative meals, and making wine and sausage to share with loved ones. He never missed an opportunity to share a story over a glass of his homemade wine or an espresso with Sambuca.

Orfeo was a social man who seemed to encounter friends wherever he went, cherishing those connections deeply. He especially enjoyed his time at the Italian American Club, where he was proud to be a lifetime member, both in Dearborn and Livonia. These communities brought him joy, friendship, and a sense of belonging that enriched his life.

His love for his homeland of Italy was a constant source of happiness. For many years, he traveled each summer to Villa Sant’Angelo, where he enjoyed visiting family and reconnecting with his roots. Those journeys were among his most treasured experiences, reflecting his deep pride in his heritage and devotion to family.

He will be remembered for his energy, his social spirit, and his unwavering devotion to family and community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to guide us in the gardens we plant, the meals we share, and the lives we build.

Mr. Corona's family will receive guests on Tuesday, November 25th, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at McCabe Funeral Home, 31950 W. 12 Mile Road, Farmington Hills. He will lie instate Wednesday, November 26th, at 9:30 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Road, Farmington. Mr. Corona will be laid to rest at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory with a contribution to Angela Hospice Donate - Angela Hospice Home Care or by planting something in your garden, just as he loved to do.
