Condolence

Our condolences to your entire family! My parents, Stan and Ann Sokalski were lifelong friends of Bob and Judy, then also welcomed Marilyn. I recall when Mr. Wallace came to a party at our Southfield house on crutches, having a knee injury, but his laughter still rang out to be heard all the way upstairs where we kids were banished. We had a delightful dinner visit with Bob and Marilyn in Albuquerque when they came to see the hot air Balloon Fiesta. Mom and Dad remembered seeing Bob perform as a percussionist in some band, after retirement, and they were amazed that he threw his drumsticks in the air while drumming! They really enjoyed it! Sadly, our dad Stan passed away January 14, 2021 (we watched your lovely mass and heard your beautiful singing to help us plan dad's January 30th funeral) May you all be heartened by the fact that Bob was a blessed and lucky guy, whose happiness stemmed mainly from YOU!

My family led a "parallel life" as we grew up with the Wallaces. Our parents Ann and Stan, were in college with Bob and we've had matching-grade kids since I met Matt in 3rd grade at St. Mike's. We also had our own pew in church! I will always be glad for the lifelong friendship that our folks had, from sharing tables at the father daughter dances at Mercy up to breakfasting with the 4 of them at Leo's after church on the dozen or so times I was privileged to join Bob and Marilyn. You could not be with Bob without having to smile. We will miss him but remember his joyfulness always.

We met Bob just after meeting Matt and Emily in 1980. I always felt he was a friend from the start! I loved his stories and his laugh. He will be deeply missed. Sincere sympathy to everyone.

What a wonderful and full life Mr. Wallace lead. I didn't realize all of his educational and career accomplishments. I will always cherish the memories we created and shared in St. Helen at the cottages. 4th of July week was the highlight each summer because of our two families vacationing together. Prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

Happy memories, we lived on the same block in Detroit, went to the same school, St. Rita. We were altar servers from the 4th grade to 12th. Stayed best of friends all of our lives, had a cottage next door to his family and spent many vacations at Lake St. Helen MI together with our families. Had many dinners together at our homes thru the years with our mutual friends from St. Rita School. Kept in touch and visited until now. Dave & Katie LaCharite
