My condolences to the Von Ende family. I went to school with Mike's brother Dennis.
My sympathy to your families. I worked with Joel at Minilab Supply and I remember how excited the family was to be going to Deacon Mike's ordination. He sounds like a great guy who will be greatly missed.
Beth and Aimee, I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember your dad as a huge fan and supporter of your mom. And what a great smile! Please give my love to your mom. She is a kind and loving soul as well. I'm currently traveling in Arizona. I would have liked to attend his service.
Bev, Beth and Aimee
We are so sorry for your loss. Mike was a great guy. Tell Beth that cousin Sally says hello. Hopefully she will be remember who I am.
Love, prayers, hugs
Sally
A Brilliant Guy who loved his family and friends, great sense of humor and handsome as well. He always gave me a sense of well being when I would turn the mike over to him to MC the crowds of Mary Kay gatherings, from 5 to 2,600 at the Ren Cen. What a gracious talent, yet he always named himself humbly as "Just Mike"! Oh, how I miss those days of our youth. May your memory be eternal. Love, Fran
Mike Von Ende was the News Director at WJBK-TV2 who offered as young TV news reporter the opportunity to make some history by accepting his challenge to become one of the first female sports broadcasters in major market television. The year was 1978. I accepted his offer and always knew he had my back as the inevitable challenges came up over the five years I worked for him. He gave me one of the most interesting and challenging opportunities of my long career, which took me to multiple other cities. My only regret is that, once I returned to Michigan, I never discovered that he still lived in the area. I would have loved to have thanked him for the belief he showed in me and the unique opportunity he gave me to strengthen my journalism, broadcasting and sports chops! I'm not surprised to read that he was an excellent and beloved husband, father, grandfather and deacon. He was an inspiring leader who brought out the best in others. Please add my name to his long list of admirers.
Bev and Mike are always in our prayers. We are so sad to hear of Mike's passing. We know is at peace in the hands of the Lord.
We remember Mike's time at Prince of Peace. He was a wonderful influence on our family as we became altar servers with our granddaughters. He is lovingly remembered.
Mike was Assistant News Director at WBZ-TV in Boston and for nine months, I was an Group W Management Intern there. I got to watch him closely. He was a model in his job: attentive to detail, focused on results, and able to carry out the news director's will. Later, he called on me at various stations where I was news director. I liked the products he offered because they were not gimmicky -- they were audience-centered and had viewer benefit. Both at the station and in his approach to news syndication, I learned a lot from Mike. He was a quality guy.
While anchoring at WJW-TV I met Mike and quickly became his friend and recognized his dedication to quality journalism. The business of broadcast journalism is a better enterprise because Mike was in it.

I always enjoyed their visits when they came to Red Wing for the class reunions. It took a special man to "put up" with Bev, I know 'cause I was her best friend in school. I lost track of her the last few years, would you let me know her phone # so I can call her.
Mike was my mentor during my formation as a Deacon, and presented me with my stole at ordination. I miss our conversations over breakfast at Ram's Horn. May Eternal rest be granted unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. Peace.
