1.When I asked you if you would do a commercial for my campaign, the only thing you said was "when and where". 2. The two of us laughing when you said "I don't tell jokes, I tell stories", and then you proceeded to tell a joke. 3. When you saw me in the driveway in a wheel chair and you raced over to see how you could help. 4. How speedy you were, when you called to say you were stopping by and before I could get to the door, you were there knocking. 5.

Papa we share so many wonderful memories together.I remember that you would buy Kristen and Jeremy their snow pants and mittens when they were little. You never missed a concert or dance recital. You were proud of my children and they loved you.Just a few weeks ago you woke up and asked Chris how things were in Japan and then you would chuckle at Jeremy being in Ann Arbor with his girlfriend. You would say, "some things never change". We spent a lot of time together after grandma died and you taught me about the stock market and I would teach you about the computer. You would say that you could not get by with cheating on solitaire because the computer wouldn't let you.I remember the first time you cried in front of me. You read a story from the Guidepost magazine. I felt surprised and honored that you showed your vulnerability to me. You became more interested in learning about God. You read many books about death and tried to understand what it would be like. You found peace when you read the book Heaven Is For Real. Wow you had me to order at least 40 of those books and you gave them all away. The nurse at the American House told me how you gave them away there.Actually you became eager to die and would often complain that God was not ready for you. Two of my favorite memories with you was going to the Live Lawrence Welk show with you in Dearborn. You enjoyed that and would talk about it for weeks. The other memory was the George Bush and Condoleezza Rice joke. You laughed until tears ran down your face. We watched it over and over.Once you went into the American House I would stop by after work and you would catch me up on the "gossip". I miss you so much now papa. I feel so empty inside but I know that you are where you wanted to go. Chris and I talked to you about 3 hours before you passed. I told you That in my Fathers house are many mansions and that God had a home for you.I sang songs of Heaven for you and you looked into my eyes and you looked into Chris eyes. We told you that it was okay to go. Now you are in heaven and here I am with all of these memories. Am I glad that I got to know you better, you bet I am. I love you and look into the Heavens and know that you are watching from above. Remember I told you that I would toast you once you were gone, Well here's to you papa our final toast but I will see you again in Heave. Love you forever Millie and Chris

There are a lot of things I can say about Uncle Robert but one thing that impressed me the most was what a terrific brother he was to my father. When daddy had his stroke, Uncle Robert called him every single night to talk. He would spend the day with Aunt Grace; and, when he went home in the evening, he would call daddy. What a special brother he was to my father and I will always treasure the memory of how much daddy enjoyed their daily phone conversations. The other special memory will be the jokes he told every time we talked, especially the one about Carol, since that is my sister's name. He really enjoyed this joke. I was also impressed by the recipes he developed. He would call and share with me the new chocolate muffins he made that had a Reese's peanut butter cup in the middle. They were delicious too!! His blueberry muffins were also very good. Of course, he added double the amount of blueberries that the recipe called for. The last memory I will share is him telling me to call anytime except at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday night because that's when he watched Lawrence Welk and not to call after 8:00 p.m. because that's when he went to bed. He was truly a wonderful example of how to grow older. I know he's in a better place and we will see him again.

when my son Chris Humphries and his wife Cathy and their daughter and me and Grandpa were at his house and he held his great great granddaughter with a big smile on his face and we took a picture of us and then later at Dad's house we had him pose so we could photo shop his picture in so that it had the five generations in the picture. My son wanted everyone to know that Grandpa had three great great grandchildren. They are Ashlee Marie age 9, Rebecca Nicole age 7, and Gabrial Michael age 5.

living with you and grandma when I was little and how I would sit on your lap and you would put my shoes on for me. Oh how I loved sitting in your lap. When dad remarried how I would miss you when you and grandma would come to visit. I didn't want you to go home I wanted you to stay with us. You and grandma were like a second family for me.

I have so many good memories of Uncle Robert and family. Christmases in Portland, visits in the summer with trips to the Dairy Queen, and family picnics at Lake Webster in the summer. Our family would come from Portland, Uncle Robert and family from Michigan, and Aunt Joan and family would come from Chicago. We would meet for the day and it was always so much fun when all the cousins got together. I also remember getting books, magazines , or interesting articles sent in the mail. The past 2 summers when I was in Indiana for a visit, making a special trip to Michigan to see him. He always had a "true story" to tell. He was an amazing person and I am blessed to have had him for an uncle.
