Wally when he taught 4th grade at Jefferson. I was a music teacher who came to his room two or three times a week. He always made me feel welcome. Yes, there were the rockets and the popcorn. And, yes, he loved his cars. I believe the car of choice at that time was a brand new Camaro! Wally almost always had a smile on his face. He was kind. I also recall that on most Friday's throughout the fall he would wear a beautiful sweater from whichever team the University of Iowa was playing the next day in football! I often wondered how much Wally spent on sweaters from Michigan, Ohio State, etc. Wally was a fine teacher and an even better person. I remember him with great fondness.
