I Remember...

I was working at Providence Hospital in the Administrative Wing in the Patient Care Services Office. Sr. Xavier was the hospital President. I was fresh out of school and watched Sister go up and down those halls to meetings and always very busy but never too busy to say hello to me. My mom, who recently passed away, working with Sister for MANY years. Rest in Peace Sister.

watching Sr. Xavier through a strike right down the middle when she threw out the first pitch at the Tigers Game! She turned to me a said something to the effect of ... I think I could have done a little better. She was such a competitor... I loved that about her. We loved talking sports! I am truly blessed to have known and worked with her for so many years! Peace! I remember when I came to Providence-Providence Park Hospital and was greeted by Sister. She told me that she admired my energy and always with a smile. I replied and said thank you, I love what I do and appreciated her for giving me the opportunity to be apart of a beautiful vision & organization such as the "POSC" Philosophy of Service for the Community.

I remember when Sister Xavier played tennis when we had tennis courts behind Fisher Center but some of my fondest memories are how Sister was always right there at all the Joint Commission visits, which reinforced the impact of the Daughters of Charity as sponsors. Sister was the last president that was a member of the Daughters. She saw the signs of the times and knew it was time to turn leadership over to lay persons, while instilling in all levels the values of Catholic healthcare. I am honored to have known Sister for several decades. Well done, good and faithful servant!

working for Sr. Xavier as a very young adult at Providence Hospital. She was a role model for me with her leadership skills and organization. In future years, I ended up getting my BS and MPA in health care administration and was Executive Director of a health center. I will always remember her and the wonderful staff at Providence Hospital.
