I Remember...

I remember what a role model he was for my husband, Ron Fournier (Son of Victor & Margaret). Ron also spent 25 years in the Detroit Police Department. Rest in pease.

Many years ago Charlie and Roxanne, along with our children and grandchildren at Lohr's for summer picnic. I asked Charlie to tell about his time in military. He sat tall in middle of us all and recalled coming home from Africa on a transport ship entering New York Harbor with all troops on high deck standing. "And then we saw her, our lady, and I'll never forget how great that felt to be in America." He was talking about Statue of Liberty! Big eyes of our grandchildren said it all! We will never forget Charlie and love we have for him and his family. Ed and Joan

AS his letter carrier for many years it was great getting to know him. He would walk down to get his mail and talk to me. I got to know his family through him and was always impressed with all the cards his family sent him. He was loved. I was thrilled when he went to live with family even though I missed his friendly face. He was a wonderful man. It's been great knowing Charlie and his family.

My uncle Chuck picking me up and taking me places as a young teen. He always took such good care of me. He let me stay, rent-free, at my Grandma's house while he prepared to sell it. He bought my old junker green Dodge, put a wooden bumper on the front of it and called it, "Jaws." I thought he was so cool that he went to the FBI academy. He bought me a patch (for my jacket) from the FBI academy and I cherished it. He was my hero.

Charlie was such a great guy. I've known him for many years as a fellow church usher and brother in Christ. Charlie always had a smile and an encouraging word. He will be much missed. God bless your family.
