I Remember...

Was Ken's neighbor on Dunkinfield when they lived in California. Remember the white Volvo and Ken and Mary going out for errands or breakfast or a nice day trip. Still have a Hickock wheels hat from Kens custom wheels, remember his enjoyment of all things automotive. Remember his office in Tustin next to the guitar shop. Remember installing new double pane windows on his home and on my home. He was a great neighbor who always offered a helping hand, solid advice, or a dinner invitation with a good mood and friendly greeting. Always there to help a neighbor out and move things with his truck. Helping me move into a new house, he and Mary attended my 50th birthday party. Deepest regrets not keeping in touch the last several years, but always received the cheerful emails. Always a hard working balanced good solid family man. Memories of who he was make his loss so difficult to accept, the world really needs men like Ken these days. Ken led by example being a naturally good person friend and neighbor every single day that I knew him. Sincerely hope he enjoyed time with his family and friends upon returning home. He was a very good neighbor and friend to me. A smile, a wave, a conversation, a helping hand, these gifts are in such short supply these days and sorely missed. That is the Ken I knew and remember and the man he is.

I'm a server at Eddie's Coney Island that Ken and Mary frequent. Of all the jobs I've had, this one has been my favorite because of people like Ken and Mary. Over the last couple years I've gotten to sit down with them and hear story after story of all the wonderful places they've traveled to. I'll always remember when Ken came in and told me all his crazy church stories across the country. Luckily no one came in for a while that day because he had me laughing nonstop. Moments like that were common when they came in and it makes me feel deeply saddened to hear of Ken's passing. He was a very good man who always made my weekends better by coming in to chat with me. I hope one day I can be like him and have just as many great stories to tell. My heart goes out to his entire family, and especially Mary. Mary is a wonderful woman who shared her life with the most special man. I'll be thankful everyday for the kindness and joy I received from him.
