I Remember...

Marilyn has been our friend and a part of our family for 50 years. She is Aunt Marilyn to Catherine and Jennifer. She brought joy to our family pack. It was fun playing bridge, shopping for bargains, going out to ball games and yes, imbibing in Cold Duck. She was a model for us on how to parent. She was a strong woman who raised successful children and grandchildren who adored her. She was a loving wife who found ways to adapt to Chuck's strange schedule and (many) other idiosyncrasies. And she was a loyal friend who never let the physical distance between us diminish the closeness we always felt. She was beautiful in every way. She dashed out of the house every day to become a "permanent" substitute teacher where ever she was assigned in Detroit. Those are long days. She took the money she made, invested it carefully, kept close track of her returns, and was always delighted that she was doing better than Chuck. She also was the center of her family's life. We watched her care for her Mother and we watched her kids care for her. When she and Chuck bought their house, she was so proud of it. The Rock out front defined Marilyn and her house. Perhaps there are more dedicated grandparents than Chuck and Marilyn but we don't know them. The recent Dause family wedding had information broadcast for a solid year. She had two dresses bought a year in advance of the wedding. Marilyn remains a living force in our Seltzer family lives and we cherish the time we were able to spend with her.
