I Remember...

I will never forget the insightful, interesting, and theoretical conversations we had together over the several years we worked together. Cheers to you Steve!!

Sharing a canoe on the great Explorer Post 65 expedition to remotest Algoma in 1961; growing up close friends in Midland, Michigan, being together in scouts, Presbyterian youth fellowship, high school band and orchestra and classes, playing tennis and bridge; sitting with you and Sue at the 50th high school class reunion.

...Steve from back in Jr HS when a group of us made a movie for German class. I was the villain (at 6ft 5in), and Steve was the hero (a fair bit shorter). Glad I was able to talk to him at the MHS reunion several years ago. RIP alt Freund!

Steve was my best and oldest friend from grade school and was then best man at our wedding fifty-two years ago. He filled my young life with friendship and happiness, quick wit and smiles, a thousand games of cribbage where he always "drew for the perfect hand," "jousting" on three-speed bikes with water balloons, years together in band, then later asking me, after I picked him and his date up, if I could pull his dad's car out of a ditch where it stood perfectly vertical on its back bumper along an ice-covered road in the dark. You will live forever in my heart, Steve.
