I Remember...

Being a "Band Geek" with Steve (he was in the Drum Line & I was in the Flag Corp) way, way back in high school. He was a true friend & will be missed.

Julie John

A friendship with Steve that began when he was involved in the youth group at Lola Park Lutheran Church. I was the "adult" in charge and organized all our activities while Steve was in junior high and high school. When he attended U of M our friendship continued and Steve attended hockey games with my siblings and I on our season tickets. From the early 90's until '99, we could count on Steve to go with us to every home game on Friday nights, followed by a dinner at Cottage Inn. I remember Steve learning to skate with my sister and I at Open Skate at Yost arena on Thursdays from 8-10. Either we met at the rink, or we picked him up at the Beck Road post office on our way to Ann Arbor. Steve explored many concerts and cultural events with us in Ann Arbor. Wolfstone is the first that comes to mind. More recently, in the past six years or so, I have seen Steve and Rowan at many USA hockey games and the occasional U of M game. Steve's dedication to his son was unmatched. Steve's great sense of humor and interest in many things will be missed. I will always have great memories of a very good friend.

I'm so sorry I could not be there today at Steve's service. Please know that you all have been so very much in my thoughts and my prayers... Steve and I met in college, he went to high school with a couple of my really good friends which is how I met him. I last saw him at my wedding. One of my most favorite things about Steve was his love of cards. Euchre in particular; you always had to make sure that you dealt the cards exactly right, or you would get a lecture on cards according to Hoyle! Our crazy group spent a ton of time running around, having adventures, and playing an awful lot of cards... He was one of the kindest, funniest, most genuine people I have ever had a friendship with... I am very sorry that life got so busy and that we lost track of each other, and I am truly truly so sorry for your loss. Love, Michele
