I Remember...

Claire was a wonderful step-mother to me and my children for many years. She filled the shoes of my birth mother so very beautifully. She became a friend and confidant over the years. She was always smiling and cheerful and will be missed.

Grandma, You were always so sweet to me. I remember I used to lay in your lap, and you would massage my head until I would fall asleep. I used to bother you to do this over and over and you never said no. I love you and miss you. Your grandson, Frankie

Many years after Vern Lezotte passed away, legend has it that my Mom, Bernice Lezuch, was instrumental in introducing Claire to my Uncle Henry Reszka. While Danny and I had been friends since grade school, we were "linked" as well amidst countless school pupil listings, which were always executed in the obligatory alphabetical order. Lezotte, Lezuch, etc. This process continued on into our college years at MSU. In fact, during our freshmen year, we were assigned adjacent rooms in the Armstrong Hall dormitory. After Claire and Henry wed, Danny and I became "cousins by marriage." There were so many great memories across our decades of friendship. Yet one of the most consistent images I have when I remember Claire was not tied to any specific date or event... It used to happen every single time I visited Danny's home in Allen Park. That lasting and consistent memory of Claire was simply her always smiling, being so accommodating, and acting with great patience as we carried on with our constant shenanigans. While I am almost certain that Danny and Barb cannot say this, I have never personally seen Claire get angry. She was a great woman, who led a long and productive life, influencing all who came in contact with her.

Claire was a second Mom to me and a wonderful Grandma to my sons, Frankie and Raymond. I will always remember all the Thanksgivings and Christmases we spent together in Florida. I know she is pain free and in heaven and I will see her again one day. In Loving memory Karen
